NYC Bagel Tours and Veganuary are teaming up for a special plant-based bagel experience. Since 2014, Veganuary has inspired and supported millions of people worldwide to try vegan, working with businesses to expand plant-based options and bringing veganism into the spotlight through national and international media.

Join us for a vegan-centric Bagel Baking Class featuring Monty’s Plant-Based Cream Cheese. Celebrate plant-based goodness, connect with fellow enthusiasts, and enjoy fresh, hot bagels with a wide selection of vegan spreads and toppings.

A portion of proceeds will be donated to a vegan charity.

Meet Your Instructors

  • Sam Silverman

    Sam is the brains behind NYC Bagel Tours. Since 2017, he's delved deep into the bagel world, earning him the title of New York's "Bagel Ambassador." Recognized as one of Brooklyn’s 50 Most Fascinating People by Brooklyn Magazine in 2023 for his flagship event, the New York BagelFest, his bagel knowledge is unparalleled. Sam’s favorite bagel? An everything bagel with scallion cream cheese - not toasted, of course.

  • Aidan Everly

    A lifelong bagel fan, Aidan fell down the "bagel hole" of the bread’s history in 2022 and hasn’t looked back—emerging as one of NYC’s leading bagel experts. As Business Development Manager at BagelUp, he helps shape unforgettable bagel experiences across the city. His favorite? Lately, it’s been a pumpernickel everything bagel with zaatar cream cheese.

  • Rory Torstensson

    Rory has a deep appreciation for storytelling—whether on canvas or over a freshly baked bagel. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and is actively working in New York as an artist.  This artistic foundation and her warm nature enhance Rory’s approach to teaching and storytelling in a way that ensures an engaging, memorable event. Rory’s go-to order? An untoasted poppyseed bagel with lox cream cheese, cucumbers, lettuce and onion.

  • Our Veganuary class runs for the typical class duration of 2 hours.

  • None at all! Whether you're a seasoned baker or new to the kitchen, our expert instructors will guide you through the process, ensuring everyone leaves with delicious bagels and memories.

  • Yes, children are welcome! The experience is designed to be family-friendly, though young participants should be supervised throughout the process.

  • Just bring yourself and your enthusiasm! We provide all the necessary ingredients and equipment. If you wish, you can bring an apron or wear comfortable clothing.

  • Yes! This is a vegan class, after all. We strive to meet various dietary needs, but please let us know in advance. While we can adjust some recipes, cross-contamination might be possible due to the shared kitchen space.

  • Book worry-free! You can cancel for free up to 24 hours before the start of the class.

  • Bagel Market is conveniently located near the Times Square Subway Station, serviced by multiple subway lines: A, C, E, N, Q, R, S, W, 1, 2, 3, and 7.

    It's right across from Port Authority and just a few blocks away from Penn Station.
