Public Class Schedule
We offer regularly scheduled, hands-on bagel making classes on the weekends. Public classes are perfect for individuals, couples, families, and small groups looking for a fun, cultural experience without organizing a private event.
In each class, you’ll roll, boil, and bake your own New York bagels from start to finish, learn the story behind them, and leave with at least a half dozen bagels plus the recipe to make them at home.

Creators of BagelFest
BagelUp is the team behind the New York BagelFest, the largest celebration of bagel culture in the world.
Taking place every fall, this annual celebration brings together bakers, enthusiasts, and brands at Citi Field to taste, compete for awards (like "Best Bagel"), learn from experts, and network, showcasing everything from local shops to international players in a festival atmosphere.
Founded in 2019, it's become the world's premier bagel event, featuring tastings, competitions, industry talks, and family fun.
BagelFest has helped launch brands like PopUp Bagels and Starship Bagel from local mom-and-pop shops into the national culinary conversation.
Who We Are
BagelUp was founded in 2017 by Sam Silverman, New York’s “Bagel Ambassador,” after a shocking realization: despite the city’s deep bagel roots, New York had never had a BagelFest.
What started as a side project quickly grew into something bigger. In 2022, Sam left the corporate world to pursue BagelUp full time, building a small but passionate team dedicated to shining a light on the bagel, and more importantly, the people behind it.
Today, we bring that mission to life through our annual New York BagelFest, hands-on bagel making classes, NYC bagel tours, and original content that celebrates bagel culture and craft.
At the core of everything we do is simple: create meaningful experiences where people connect with the food, the city, and each other.
